Formerly Nic Armstrong and The Thieves, the IV Thieves release their debut
CD, If We Can't Escape My Pretty, on October 17th on New West Records. The
record will be released in the UK early next year on the One Little Indian
label.They will be back on the road for a North American tour including a
stop at the CMJ conference. Some of the tour dates are listed below ; more
dates TBA. There's a CD release party in Austin on Monday night at Habana
restaurant (709 E 6th St). If you're in Austin, things kick off at 8:30 pm
and there's a $5 cover.
You can hear some of the new tunes at http://www.myspace.com/ivthieves and
http://www.myspace.com/glynnwedgewood.
They're a new band really ; they only play 1 or 2 songs from The Greatest
White Liar. All the songs on the disc include contributions from 3 out of 4
members (Glynn Wedgewood and Shane Lawlor write and sing as well as Nic) ;
Jonny Aitken played drums on the record but he is no longer part of the
band. Elliott Frazier has taken over on drums. The record was produced by
Chris "Frenchie" Smith (ex-Sixteen Deluxe and Young Heart Attack). The 60s
influences are still there but you can also hear more contemporary
influences such as Oasis and Supergrass.
