I agree that CAG is much better than Lumia (may explain the lack of a third
album?)...I did a feature on him way back when for The National Rag. Nice
guy, played with a bunch of people (Big Beat is my favorite Sparks album
ever, btw)...including my all time #1 need-this-on-CD record, RADIOACTIVE by
Roger C. Reale & Rue Morgue. Reale played bass and sang, Hilly played drums
and the amazing guitarist in the trio was some guy named GE Smith. :)
Speaking of GES, if you can find GE Smith's first solo record IN THE WORLD,
grab it. Killer record unlike anything he does with the SNL and blues band
efforts. "Heart Frozen Up" is first rate powerpop. Oh for the days of Big
Sound Records, when he and Hilly and Van Duren and Jon Tiven and others
collaborated on each others recordings...wonderful stuff. God bless my
turntable!
