After just returning home to Hawaii from New York, imagine my surprise at waking up to an earthquake...life is never dull.

Thankfully, so far, we have no fatalities.

I had a wonderful time in NYC. I had a chance to catch Eytan Mirsky's concert in Greenwich Village two Fridays back. His performance from stage was pure magic. His storytelling and patter between songs set up his songs perfectly. It was a treat hearing his songs stripped down without the harder rocking edge of his material on record. If he ever hits your neck of the woods, be sure to check him out!

If that wasn't enough of a high for me, our own Sherman Boim came up to me after the show with his hand extended. I must say that the "Aloha spirit" is alive and well in New York. Sherman shared with me many of the New York music spots along with non musical areas as well. Mahalo nui loa to you Sherman. Thank you for putting up with this island boy's naive ways in the Big Apple. Hope you enjoyed Lindsey Buckingham's concert last week Tuesday night.

I've got loads of digests to go thru and noticed that a few of you had already discussed Tower's going out of business sale. Before returning to Maui, I stopped in Honolulu on Oahu and found myself not too thrilled about a 10 to 15 percent discount on $19.98 CDs either but did find myself picking up a few imports. I never ran across Tower in Manhattan but did notice that yellow bag with the Tower logo on it in the hands of customers at both Virgin Music Megastores on Broadway. I kept my purchases light as I found that the catalogs weren't deep enough but did have a large number of titles overall. I rolled my eyes when I saw Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoff's album "Under The Covers Vol. 1" in the various artists section. *LOL

It's a shame that I most likely won't be in either of these cities when Tower's days to actually shutting their doors draws close and the discounts get deep. Best of luck to you bargain hunters. :)
