yeah...I could see someone having a problem with trading CDRs..however, I
only trade CDRs (and my podcasts) that are made up of rare 45s either in 12"
or 7" form. These singles with their dubs on the back have not been reissued
in any form so I do not feel bad about doing it. Every once in a while, I
will do a podcast of current hit 45s..but I have started to only play the
first 45 seconds of each single before mixing another one..so if anyone
wants to listen to the whole thing they can purchase the 45 from the links
that I include in my podcast page.
Over the last year, I have traded about 90 CDRs with nothing but 45s that I
did not obtain when they first came out. Luckily collectors find my stuff
worth having so I can still obtain quite a few more. Plus, I have about
another 100 or so 45s that I have yet to put to tape that can be traded.
Between 1950 and 1985 approximately 49,000 45s were released in JA featuring
all forms of Jamaican versions of popular music (calypso, mento, blues,
gospel, pop, ska, rocksteady, and reggae). Between my 45 collection and the
CDRs that I have obtained...I still have a ways to go.
