when I first downloaded the new iTunes, my songs would skip if I was playing
them while I had another program running (which is how I would normally
listen to them anyway). It stayed that way until I downloaded the newest update,
but that seems to be the one that you're currently running.
As someone else suggested, I'd check your quicktime settings. I know I had
some issues with mine at one point.
