As a label guy I have ZERO time for personal listening, really. My own music
collection sits accumulating dust as I sift through hundreds of demos and
completed CDs by acts looking for distribution...weekly. And, unfortunately,
most of my listening time seems to be wasted on acts who just haven't got a
clue or think that emulating some latest fad will get them the brass ring.
I'd much prefer to be listening to stuff I actually like. Don't get me
wrong...there ARE golden moments....but that 1% of what I spend time
absorbing is time I'll never get back. Other times I'm surfing MySpace for
leads sent to me by folks on this list and elsewhere.
While driving I listen to talk radio because I don't have a tape deck or a
CD player in my car which is an old run-down wreck.
I got a DVD recorder from my parents at Christmas so I could transfer all my
old band videos, home movies, etc. It's still in the box. Frankly, an iPod
at this stage in my life would remain unused.
