The material is loud and compressed by bands/labels/whoever because they
CAN. Technology has its abusers and the music industry is one of the leading
culprits -- bigger, better, shinier, MORE! (to paraphrase 4 Non Blondes).
.....followed by the movie industry. Do we really need to hear Kursten
Dunst's voice at 190 db in a movie theatre or on our home theatre systems?
No. But we CAN!!! So we do.
