"And play guitar in a band that might just be as loud as Deep Purple c.
1974"

I would have to second that.

Thanks, and back to the shadows-

That super loud compressed (really it's limiting) CD thing has gone way past
the point of ridiculous.

We had our new CD mastered by Jim Demain at Yesmaster in Nashville. I told
him I wanted the CD to breathe and not to just be a huge sonic blur without
a scintilla of dynamics. He was very excited with my request and did a great
job. Don't get me wrong I love compressed bass and vocals and limited drums
for the BIG ROCK SOUND, but whole mixes should have some bounce to them.

As far as hearing loss, I have tinnitus in my left ear following a nasty ear
infection about 3 years ago. It's could be worse, but that is ear is real
sensitive to loud transients and sustained subsonic bass signals (below
60hz). I started wearing some of those $10 Hearo-s, but they are like
wearing rocks in my ears after a while. Being that I am a recording
engineer, live sound engineer and play guitar in a band that might just be
as looud as Deep Purple c. 1974, I had to have some earplugs that I could
use for work and playing the rock without sacrificing sound quality. I got
some Ultimate Ears earplugs (
http://www.ultimateears.com/custom/Musician-Earplugs.htm ). They have
allowed me to to continue playing and processing music for a living. Without
them I might have had to go back into the Airline business which sucks. You
can get them from an ENT Doctor. This is not a shill, I just think they are
awesome beyond belief. Well worth the $125.

COME TO SPARKLEFEST!

That's a shill...

Mike
