Hey audities list denizens!

Long time no post for me. Must be close to 5 years now. It was way
back then that Dane Conover (formerly Puppies, Tress) Googled his name
and came up with a posting of mine on this very list spouting off
about the greatness of the 1982 Trees LP "Sleep Convention". He
contacted me, and the rest...well, it's a great story.

I won't bore you with all of it, though. ;-)

I do want to give those who may be interested a little update on the
whereabouts and whatdoings of Mr. Dane.

As many of you probably already know, Dane currently splits his time
between his picturesque property in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of
California, and an apartment in the state capital, Sacramento. He is
still married to the angel-voiced Marisa, and they have a cat named
Moo. For the past several years, he's been working with Marisa under
the moniker "popgems", and a lot of great material has come from that
union.

Dane hasn't done a lot of recording lately, but still maintains a
serious home studio that he's currently working on sprucing up.
Meanwhile, he's been toiling away at the Mac, sucking up his entire
catalog of recorded works into iTunes. A gargantuan task, since it's
not as simple as spoolin' up the halftrack and hittin' PLAY. No...for
a lot of this, he's got to go back to the 4-track, 8-track, or (for
the more recent stuff) the 32-track digital source and remix. But the
product of this effort is terrific. I'm not sure exactly how far he's
made it through the catalog, but there definitely much more to capture
yet.

All along, Dane has been sending me MP3s of much of what he now has in
his computer. I am blessed to have digital copies of over 100
fantastic pieces of Dane-pop now. There is some GREAT work here. Of
course, none of it has been published. But Dane and I hope to change
that very soon.

We're working together on a new Web site: DaneConover.com. We hope to
have it up and running within a month or so. Lots of super cool
things will be on this site. And Dane's pretty excited about it.
He's working a couple of channels for selling his catalog, track by
track. The new Web site, if it doesn't handle the sales itself, while
point to the place where they can be purchased.

So if any of you were driving around in your car recently, blasting
"Delta Sleep" and saying, "Damn, that's insanely great pop! Will we
ever hear from this guy again?", you can now look forward to hearing
much more.
