I know this is not necessarily Audities discussion, but i know there must be a few Billy Joel fans on the list. I just got the recent live album. A testament to an incredible body of work. Now it's obvious that he's dropped the keys of some of the songs. Actually, i think most of the songs. I think his tone is still great, but the songs seemed to lack something. They almost seemed to be too low for him, and it didn't seem he was stretched. Yet on the ones that seem to be in the original key he sounds reasonably unchanged.

Now i don't expect he has to keep things in the original keys for my sake, but i was surprised at how much it bugged me. It got me thinking about whether i'd still enjoy McCartney if he dropped I Saw Her Standing there to C for example. Hasn't Bowie dropped the keys of his songs?

Any thoughts? I know they can't expect to have their young voices forever.
