Syl gets to rock out and have a great time! The Johansen reference is
regarding the album production and the fact that there are a couple of
slower songs amid the mania. But it's a rock and roll record all the way.
Johansen wrote all the lyrics (and GREAT ones, btw). Syl wrote the music for
eight of them and co-wrote another with guitarist Steve Conte, who wrote the
music for three others (and they all ROCK). Another had music by the
keyboard player, and one by the bass player.
I liked the Syl records as well; I don't think their lack of success was due
to the music - I doubt most people even knew they existed. Even the reissue
on CD was almost a state secret.
