I would put Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin in the 80's ahead of John 
Fogerty, but more for strings of hit singles rather than albums.

Two Against Nature shouldn't count, simply because it's not a very good 
album.  I don't care how many awards it won, it doesn't come close to any of 
Steely Dan's 70's albums.

More recently, I would pick Leslie Gore.  It's her first album in what, 30 
years?  Pretty good, too.

Aerosmith had maybe the biggest comeback of all.
