I've seen Chicago three times in the last five years. Once they were the
headliners with only a short opening set by some other band, once with
Earth, Wind & Fire and this year with Huey Lewis. Both of the latter
shows the sets were split pretty evenly.
In all cases, Chicago stayed to mostly the early hits, performing the
whole "Make Me Smile" suite, so at leas that strayed from just playing
the three minute hits. The Cetera stuff was few and far between--and
certainly wasn't a focal point of Chicago's set. The problem I had with
Chicago's performances was with Bill Champlin doing some lead vocals
that were originally done by Robert Lamm (or other early Chicago
members). Lamm still tours with Chicago, but he has relinquished a few
of the lead vocals to Champlin.
Still, it's worth it to see them.
