Just wanted to let you know some of the new stuff that I'm really enjoying.
Guster - "Ganging Up On The Sun" - This is excellent. Their most solid,
consistent effort to date, with 4 or 5 killer tunes. They really deserve
some success.
Cracker - "Greenland" - A band I can usually take or leave, but I'm
definitely taking this one. I'd make the same comment about this as the
Guster one. Very enjoyable and available at e-music.
Futureheads - "News and Tributes" - I've seen mixed reviews for this one,
but to me it sounds like they've taken the best ideas from the first album
and just expanded them into longer songs. Still great for fans of early XTC.
Also available at e-music.
The Nines - "Calling Distance Stations" - Simply fantastic. If only we could
have a new Nines album every year.
A quick mention also for Barenaked Ladies. Apologies, but I still get
excited at the prospect of a new BNL album, and the first single off their
new one ("Easy") is now available at e-music, and it sounds great.
My mid-year fave has to be Neko Case. Her voice and the song arrangements
are just out of this world. This has been on constant rotation for weeks,
and will probably stay there for many more to come.
Cheers,
Mike
