1. Over the Father's Day weekend, Nike ran a
commercial featuring Tiger Woods with his recently
deceased father, Earl. The background music? The
Zombies' "This Will Be Our Year". It's a sweetly
moving commercial, with one of the greatest songs ever
as a background.
2. Office is a Chicago quartet that put out an LP
called Q & A late last year. This is an terrific
collection of pop tunes. There's a bit of a retro
'80s feel to it -- we would have been all over these
guys in 1983 at my college radio station. At times,
they remind me a bit of Scissor Sisters. There are
big hooks all over the record.
