I guess your mileage may vary on this...

I can't stand the newest Taxiride (Axiomatic). I can't hear anything
resembling a hook anywhere on the disc. To these ears, the best song on the
disc (Oh Yeah, I guess) is weaker than anything on Garage Mahal. Upon
hearing this mess, I really thought it might've been written in some
drug-induced haze because it captures none of the creative pop instinct that
characterizes Garage Mahal or Imaginate.

Not trying to start a fight, just my two cents...

Best,
Rick

i'd be remiss if i didn't send out a flare to audities list-members
regarding the "new" taxiride album.

it's not really "new" (came out last year) but somehow it slipped under my
radar.

for those who already dig taxiride, this one is more along the lines of
"garage mahal" than "imaginate". more power, less organic. but still the
soaring backing vocals and the monster hooks (just give it a few listens and
it'll stick itself in your cd player).

if you've never tried taxiride, well, you will be putting yourself in the
hands of a slickly produced and sure-footed power pop band. i hear
supertramp, alan parsons, bowman, jellyfish, owsley.

yes, sadly, it's an import, although notlame has it as a canadian import. i
got my copy direct from australia (the band's home) for a very reasonable
price... do some internet searching and ye shall be rewarded.

this is a band (like many of those we love) that is criminally
underappreciated. give em a listen!

ned
