Heads up, Auditeers -

Just saw Nickel Creek with Ben Lee this past weekend
at an outdoor arts festival in Iowa City - amazing
sets both! Do yourself a favor and go see these guys
if they come anywhere close to your town.

Some of the covers that NC sprinkled into their set,
when they weren't playing the majority of their latest
album, were Randy Newman's 'Short People,' Radiohead's
'Nice Dream,' 'Tell It To Me' by the Old Crow Medicine
Show and 'Pony' by Tom Waits. Chris Thile wailed on a
Bach piece taken from an album he cut with Mike
Marshall.

And then there was Sean Watkins, who did a couple
songs from his new solo record, 'Blinders On.' Out of
sheer curiosity, I picked this one up today and I
think a few Auditeers would find it a good one to add
to their collections. The new issue of Paste has a
track, "Summer's Coming," included on the CD insert
that represents the album well, but there are other
random in-between track moments that have a real 'Pet
Sounds' or 'Sm!le' influence. Dan Wilson co-wrote some
of the tracks, and guests include Jon Brion and Glenn
Kotche, the new drummer from Wilco.

Okay, that's enough...back to my vacation!

Bill
