I think the Cheap Trick track is the best I've heard yet from Rockford. Not
as forced and more like heaven tonight era trick.
This is what went out in the rss feed.
Five new tracks for play or download. Cockney Rebel, Cheap Trick, Tennis,
Rumblefish. In the Audio Section at Gary's Place for a week or so! Here's
the details and the complete list of what's on the audio player.
Cockney Rebel - Last Goodbye, No Rain On This Parade - Two tracks from their
very strong 2005 comeback.
Cheap Trick - All Those Years - From the new album Rockford, to be released
any day now, and the best thing they have done in a long time.
Tennis - Things To Do When You Are Sad - Norwegian band. So what if their
second hand English makes them sound like a hairlip with a lisp, and words
like bummer come across as bamba. This is still some of the best bubblegum
pop since Bobby Sherman sang Easy Come, Easy Go. Read more about them at

Rumblefish - Mexico (A cutout bin classic. Today the CD was on Amazon new
for 25 cents.
Fools Face - I Can Tell (Vinyl ripped by Gary. One of the band members,
either Dale McCoy or Jimmy Frink gave me this test pressing of the 45 back
in 1979 or 1980 during a trip through Houston. I first met them in 1978. It
was evening, and I was at the house of Chris Lessiker, who some of you may
remember from the great powerpop trio Pinups. Chris lived within blocks of
Westheimer road and the artsy montrose strip. In the distance we could hear
music. Ringing guitars and pure pop vocals. We started walking trying to
figure out where it was coming from, and ended up at High Noon Saloon on
Montrose Blvd where the band was playing Ticket To Ride. We went in the club
and watched the band finish out an amazing set then introduced ourselves and
it was an immediate kinship. I even let them stay the rest of the 2 weeks
there were there at my apartment because their truck was overcrowded. In
1978 they had a different bass player, but had just let him go and were
planning to replace him with Wirt, who sings lead and wrote this tune)

Anne Hathaway - Somebody To Love (Nice cover of the Queen tune from the Ella
Enchanted Sountrack. Freddie would be proud)
Artful Dodger - Intro (Live Agora 2005 - The band reunited for a new years
eve concert that was broadcast by Cleveland's 98.5 WNCX. This intro and the
next 3 tracks are from that concert)

Artful Dodger - Think Think (Live Agora 2005)
Nancy Boy - Sometimes (A more mellow moment from this hard glam band fronted
by the sons of Michael Nesmith and Donovan Leich)
Montrose - Rich Man (Nice pop ballad from this heavy seventies band)
Black Sabbath - It's Allright (Pop Moment. Maybe Beth by Kiss influenced
them as this was shortly after)
Earth Quake - Lovin' Cup (Poppier Moment. From their Beserkley album
Leveled. I think this was written by R.Bimler, who called himself Son Of
Pete)
Evan Dando - Ballad of El Goodo (Lemonheads main man covers Big Star. From
the Empire Records soundtrack)
Blue Shadows - If I Were You (My friend and great record reviewer Roch
Parisien described it perfectly when he said Steeped in
country-meets-roots-pop tradition; guitars bristle with both British
Invasion riffs and reverb-laden Nashville chords)
