I had somewhat higher hopes for its energy level considering the
presence of Jack White and members of the Greenhornes, all of whom
have proven themselves capable of much more exciting work. But
Brendan Benson, though he's managed a large handful of good-to-great
songs, is a master of the go-nowhere mid-tempo slog, and
unfortunately, it seems like his indolence ending up being the
dominant element. Too bad.
