Hey, Dave -
'15 Minutes' was a great comeback album for Nik Kershaw - more acoustic guitar driven songs than synthetic, really catchy hooks and choruses. IMHO, your dollar or two went to a good disc.
I forget the name of the Kershaw album that came after '15 Minutes', but it's also really good. From what I heard a while back, he got frustrated by the lack of sales in these two releases and got out of the game again. Just for the heck of it, I did visit his Website recently, and it appears that he might be gearing up for another go at it. Maybe his 15 minutes aren't up just yet?
Can't vouch for the other discs you bought but, along the lines of Mr.Ocasek, I did recently find a remastered copy of 'Panorama' by The Cars. Anybody know if they remastered 'Candy O' at the same time? Sure would like to know.
