Rafael,
I highly recommend Other Music at 15 E. 4th St. They have a website, so you can check them out: http://www.othermusic.com . They carry a lot of indie records but also carry a good deal of material that would be right up an Auditeer's alley, such as the recent Yellow Pills compilation on the Numero label. They also have a big section called 'then' that carries a lot of amazing pop.
It's also across the street from Tower Records, so there is a fall back :)
