I'm not technically as savvy as many folks on the board, and my ears are probably more shot than most, so I get a little lost with the lossy disussion. For me, the point is probably moot, as Rick Springfield would sing (did I actually just quote Springfield?). Although that doesn't mean I don't find the discussion interesting.

But Michael does raise a good point about freedom. I just got an iPod in October, and for the first time in years I find myself listening to ALBUMS again. What's also helped is purchasing a speaker docking station. I just set it up at work and I'm good to go. It has given me a TREMENDOUS amount of listening freedom.

As I got older I found it harder and harder to find the time to sit and actually listen to complete albums. It became even harder still to listen to CD's that are 50:50 good tracks and bum tracks (too numerous to mention). I know, as technology improved, I got even lazier!

But when you load the iPod up and load it in the docking station, it's easy for me to listen to CD's I've ignored for years. (Got Social Distortion's first album going as I type, for example.)

Anyway, not meant to be an endorsement of either side, just an observation I've made. A couple of friends of mine say the same thing also.
