The guy who ran/owned Hot Wax in Edinburgh had a dreadful attitude, but
also the best (and best value) CDs in town. I remember browsing the racks
and picking up Rhino's "Best of the Standells" CD (one of those cardboard
long-boxes that import CDs from the States used to come in), only to have
it snatched from my hand with a brusque comment "I need that for a
mail-order". Also taking back a defective copy of a Beach Boys 2-fer-1 CD
to get an exchange and getting money thrust into my hand with the remark
"You've had your chance!". Once he picked on some other unwitting
customer while I was silently browsing, only this time the victim was (a)
drunk and (b) surly. I remember eating my face trying not to laugh as Mr
Rude tried to back down to Mr Drunk & Angry.
