The website categories mirror the store's system. I didn't think they
were that pricey, myself when I was there last year.

The staff are not the warm fuzzy variety, by any stretch, but I found
them helpful and easy to work with.

I mail ordered something once and I don't think they're incredibly well
organized on that front, so it became a bit of an ordeal, but it worked
out fine in the end - so I harbor no bad feelings, even there. However,
if you expect perfect execution, keep this in mind.

I went to Other Music when I was in New York in 2000. I remember them
having lots of good stuff, but kinda pricey, and sorted by oddly-named
categories that I didn't understand. I had to ask a clerk to find
something
for me.

I was also told by a friend of mine that the clerks had a holier than
thou
attitude, but I didn't pick up on that. Maybe my selection fit their
acceptable criteria. It was a Jets to Brazil cd I bought on
recommendation.
I tried, but couldn't get into it.

Rafael,

I highly recommend Other Music at 15 E. 4th St. They have a website, so
you
can
check them out: http://www.othermusic.com . They carry a lot of indie
records
but also carry a good deal of material that would be right up an
Auditeer's alley, such as the recent Yellow Pills compilation on the
Numero label. They also have a big section called 'then' that carries a
lot of amazing pop.

It's also across the street from Tower Records, so there is a fall back
:)
