Peter Dunn at the Vinyl Museum during the store's final death throws on
Lakeshore Blvd. allowed folks to take a foot worth of LPs for $12.00.....a
buck an inch. I took a van to the store on its last day and loaded what I
could fit into the vehicle for about $450.
As far as rude store clerks go...I nominate Brian Taylor (ex frontman for
Toronto punk act Youth Youth Youth) at Record Peddler in Toronto. He'd just
as soon humiliate you in front of all the other customers then let you buy a
Talking Heads or post-Ozzy Black Sabbath record. My question was always: why
carry records of artists you don't actually want to sell to your customers?
The staff there never seemed to have an answer....just made snide comments
about your purchases as you brought them to the counter. I remember many
times seeing customers leave the store empty handed after Taylor embarrassed
them openly.
