Here's one for you, Dave - Joe Zawinul of Weather Report used to flip the
plug of the keyboard on one of his two ARP 2600 synths which inverted the
voltage to the keyboard, reversing the direction of pitch.  He would then
play each synth with a different hand.  Sounds like your scenario!
