Steve,
Very cool read.
I was a hige Queen fan from Queen II onward. A friend
was an audiophile and played Orge Battle for me on his
stereo and I was hooked. To this day the song gives me
chills.
I too stooped buying the albums around NOTW, I might have
bought Miracle and Jazz. Not too sure.
I recently revisited queen. MY 2 boys love WE WILL ROCK YOU
and WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. This season on American Idol
they did a Queen week. So the boys were all excited, and I
was very curious. After watching the show, the kids were
asking about some of the other songs they had never heard.
So we listened to Queen II, Sheer HEart Attack, Opera,
Races, Jazz and NOTW in one day. I was not only taken back
to my high school years, but I was also reminded what an
incredible band they were.
From the debut right up to The Game, I love it all.
I agree that some of the imagery and lyrics are
over the top, but the total package, the music
just seems to fit the lyrics.
Queen I find is one of those love em or hate em bnads.
And I can't say hoe much I hate most record store clerks.
