This message is really intended for those that really love this band. After writing it, I realized that it did nothing for me but reinforce what a completest dork I am. You have been warned..
I listened to Drop Out more times than I can remember, so I was pretty excited about this release, hoping that it gather up all the non-Drop Out songs released by East Village. In looking at what I've got, sadly it doesn't look that as complete as I was hoping for.
The new release doesn't even seem to have the original track listing (assuming there isn't a typo). It looks like it's missing the song "What Kind of Friend This Is."
I've also got a CD single for Silver Train (SHINE 37 CD) that contains "Circles (edit)" and "Motorcycle Theme" which is really an alternate mix of "Silver Train." Neither of these appear on the reissue.
I also have an East Village compilation of singles and demos called Hotrod Hotel (SHINE CD 6). It contains the song "Vibrato" not included in the reissue. This song was originally released as 7" single on Summershine.
However, the new release does contain "Back Between the Places," "Freeze Out (original version), "Violin," and "Barrel Dog" which don't appear to have been previously released on CD.
I'll still absolutely pick up the new release for the extra tracks. Does anyone know of a good place to find the entire discography of East Village? There's very little on the web (that I've found) about the band. All Music Guide doesn't even have the Hotrod Hotel or Silver Train EP listed.
