Jimi didn't play reversed strung, but he COULD. There is a story of him
picking up Mick Taylor's guitar and jamming with him back stage at a gig.>>>
Kinda blows your mind, doesn't it? My main axe is keyboards, and to me this
is like being able to play both a normal set of keys and also a bizarro
keyboard where the low notes are on the right and the high notes on the
left!
Now, I've run across a few guys who can play both right handed and left
handed guitar, and both pretty well - but not anyone who can play with the
strings in both proper and improper orientation (i.e., with the high E
string towards the ground, as 99.9% of all guitarists do -- and also with
the low E towards the ground, as I do.) I dunno, maybe these two scenarios
are equally difficult.
I've had guitarists try to get me to restring and learn the proper way, but
I've been playing improperly for so long that I just can't reprogram my
brain. When I think open E or barred C#m or what have you, my hands just go
to the spot they've been going for a few decades.
