I have found that there's an epiphone Sorrento (with
two 'Rs' but have also found that the Framus guitar
company from Germany, has "Sorento" (with 1 'R') and
Billy Lorento & simply "Lorento" models, but all of
those seem to be electric and this is indeed an
acoustic guitar!

Bill Lorento aka Bill Lawrence aka Willi Lorenz Stich
is the person associated with the Framus guitars, but
is most well known as Bill Lawrence for his pickups.

the other key that I have found is that the "Made in
Japan" could mean that it's from the "copy period" in
Japan when guitar makers there were known for copying
popular and famous model guitars.

It's also been determined that it's a classical
acoustic guitar.

I've taken some more pictures:

on the left there is a set called "mystery guitar"

I've cross posted this info. everywhere, and it's been
fascinating on the search on gathering more info.
It's probably not worth anything, but the story is
fun!

thanks,
lauree
