or The Wombles. Which I never saw, but I do have the vinyl LP
"Remember You're A Womble" and it is actually a *great* slice of
pop. Womblin' Summer Party is an upbeat Beach Boys summer tune; a
couple of fine ballads, and a nice calypso tune about picking up
litter on the beach (which is what Wombles were about) called Banana
Rock - Oh, la, la, la la, Hey! Ba-na-na - Womble up de rubbish and
put it in de bin! Rumor had it top UK studio musicians were behind
the thing. I remember hearing Chris Spedding was on some of the cuts.

<pause while I go find the record.....>

tempis fugit...I should never enter the room of vinyl, I get lost.

I've returned clutching all 4 Cat Mother (and the All-Night Newsboys)
albums - the first known for being produced by Jimi Hendrix. Also
grabbed my copy of Comic Book Heroes by Rick Springfield and (the
late) BIll Cowsill solo LP nervous breakthrough. There goes the rest
of the evening.

Anyway, am holding the LP now (what a cover!) with lyrics and credits
on the inner sleeve (remember those). Everything is credited to M.
Batt and the whole thing is 1974 Batt Productions on CBS records
(mine is a promotional copy with a sticker from Music Inn (NYC - the
Village) and I paid $2.99. Google finds:
http://www.toonhound.com/wombles.htm which confirms Spedding,
describes the history of the cartoon (stop animation originally) and
lists 4 albums (I also have an mp3 of Roy Wood & The Wombles Christmas tune):

     Mike Batt's Womble records

    Mike Batt/Orinoco - Vocals/Saxophone
    Chris Spedding/Wellington - Lead Guitar
    Steve Lyman-Dixon/Uncle Bulgaria - Violin
