Just to clarify this (in case you didn't already know):   The Redcoats were 
indeed a fake band, a British Invasion group booked to appear on The 
(fictional) Alan Brady Show on a memorable episode of The (actual) Dick Van Dyke Show.   
 The (actual) Chad & Jeremy played the (fictional) Redcoats.   Further 
blurring the line, on The Alan Brady Show, The Redcoats made note that they were 
performing a song done by their close friends, Chad & Jeremy.
