I think the whole thing about the New Cars is that it was a package tour
assembled by a promoter who believed that there was a market for a
Cars/Blondie tour for which sufficiently high priced tix could be sold. I
don't think it was Easton and Hawkes thinking, let's get the band together,
and hey, Todd and Kas are our pals! The whole thing is driven by the
prospect of a lucrative summer tour, a Stevie Nicks/Don Henley package for
the next generation. Its all about the benjamins.

Having said that, I don't have a problem with it. Hell, the musicians on
this very list have impressed upon me that it is a bitch to earn a living as
a working musician, and if this is the way to do it, who am I to squawk.
I'm a Todd fan, and I do not plan on catching this tour; it just doesn't
interest me, and it isn't coming close enough to my home for me to bother
(me, Manhattan; tour, Jones Beach; if they were playing in town, it might
merit attendance as a curiosity.)

But if this puts enough cash in Todd's account that he can go and make the
rumored guitar album he's got in process, and to tour that, all I can say
is, that's "Just What I Needed."

But not tonight.
