OK, I am ok with people dissing the new cars, or liking it. Whatever.
Personally I feel that they are just musicians that wanna do something
that they'll be paid for, and it's not like they are calling it THE
CARS, so it's fine with me. I don't really see it as selling out. In
fact it makes me happy because "not Tonight" is the first TR song in
ages that has done anything for me. Yeah, his "Ocasek-esque" vocal
phrasing is wacky. BUT, I love the background vocals, 2 of the original
back up singers are there so why not sound like that?

But let's get this clear, if there ever was a lead guitarist that was
KEY and ESSENTIAL to how a band sounded it's ELLIOT EASTON. Really how
can people go on saying he wasn't a key member? Those leads and guitar
parts are amazing, and melodic and hummable. How many guitarists pull
that off? Greg Hawkes also was pretty key to how the cars sounded, and
as I recall didn't he and Ric Ocasek record the original demos
together?

So many people, not just on this list, but people I know, are acting
like TR betrayed some great trust, when really, is this any cheesier
than doing those beatles song concerts? I'm sure those were fun, but
they sure weren't some great artistic triumph.
