My best of 2006 so far is simple: Get Set Go's "Ordinary World,"
available through eMusic and from fine retail establishments. I heard
part of a song on "Grey's Anatomy," found the album on eMusic,
downloaded it and then purchased a hard copy so I'd have the lyrics and
be able to support the band that much more.

I believe I posted about this CD before, but this is great, difficult
stuff. The music is strong, peppy pop, but the lyrics are dark and
angry. It makes for an interesting blend. Several songs remind me of
Swedish Pop like "A Perfect Day" but with lyrics more like a thrashcore
band "I Hate Everybody," "Mean," "Die Motherf**ker Die," "Suicide," and
"So You're Gonna Die." I've introduced this to several of my music
loving friends at work, and it's stayed on every one of their regular
music rotations ever since.

I'm sure there's other wonderful music that's come out this year that's
new, but I've been digging into my backstacks and re-discovering music
like Marvelous 3 (in anticipation of Butch Walker's new release). But I
can't imagine too many other new releases that would grab my ears like
Get Set Go's newest.
