if you are interested in this, they are opening up the beta a bit
further and I have 3 invites left. Please respond offlist with the
email ID you would use on the site. And please be serious about trying it out.

I have traded 87 CDs in the past month. Only one bogus deal and they
dealt with it promptly. I went down to their offices in Palo Alto
and spent an afternoon in a small focus group - very interesting
business concept. I wish they would hire me and save me from my
well-paid but very dull executive technology job (whine, whine).

There is a heavy power pop influence on the site. The founder (Bill
Nguyen) believes FoW are the bees knees. I agree.

check details at www.lala.com before deciding and emailing me
(offlist, please - synchro1@ix.netcom.com).

Since starting typing this email, I just received notice that I will
get the copy of Phonograph Record by Mason Williams within the next
week. I'm happy (and the artist or a charity for musicians gets paid!).

Hopefully, I can finally get that Japanese import of Here Comes
Inspiration by Paul Williams someday soon

"They say Van Huesen is the shirt worth choosin', but you're still
undecided about me...."

I don't post here often, but I read everything and this is the best
list I belong to for signal/noise ratio. 2 new albums I adore:

1. Hello Young Lovers - Sparks. Just go get it. Album of the
year. Better than Lil Beethoven. Adult, funny, slick, and naive all
at the same time. Awesome. A truly new form of music is evolving
before our ears.

2. I was not a big fan of Belle & Sebastian - I liked individual
songs (The Stars of Track and Field is just so excellent, I
cringe). The Life Pursuit is in near-constant rotation. Love
it. And then used lala to pick up their back catalog. I'm happy. YMMV.

Take care,

Jim W.
