Two 04 CDs that it's taken me until now to dig on:
Nellie McKay - Get Away From Me - I loved this one on first listen! She is
way cool, a great mix of personality, hooks, lyrics wit, humor, melody,
playing a great mix of pop/lounge/lite jazz and dare I say it an occasional
touch of rap! What else has she done? (and by the way, at first it bugged
me a bit when I realized this 2 CD set clocks in at a total of 65 or so
minutes and could easily fit on one CD, but then I thought, it's much more
digestible as 2 CDs, more like the old days of LP vinyl - and that's a good
thing!)
Jackdaw 4 - another cool disk, very well crafted power pop and rock.
Certainly less personality than Nellie, but very enjoyable nontheless. Is
this their debut? More on the way?
