Although I think it's great that you found out about new music from Burns'
documentary film, I should offer this one caveat--"Jazz" is not the final
word on the subject and is, in fact, loaded with inaccuracies and
misrepresentations. That being said, there were some great rare film clips
used. I just wish that they had talked to more musicians than critics and
didn't leave the novice viewer with the impression that all the really good
jazz happened before 1960 and was rescued by Wynton Marsalis twenty years
later. Hogwash. There was a lot of creative music and big developments in
jazz during that period.
But if anyone wants to hear some Guaraldi-esque jazz, I would suggest going
to the source. Pianist Bill Evans (who is mentioned only in passing in the
film), has some fine releases including "Everybody Digs Bill Evans", Waltz
for Debby and "Sunday Night at the Village Vanguard"
