I'm far from knowledgeable about Jazz, but along those lines I suspect
that Dave Brubeck's "Time Out" would be a worthy purchase. My guess is
that was the biggest selling Jazz album of it's era.
As for me, I've been getting into bebop lately, particularly Dizzy
Gallespie's stuff from the late 50's. Miles Davis' "Birth of the Cool"
is also great stuff. I picked up on these two greats after watching Ken
Burn's fine documentary about Jazz.
