Sorry, Non music post..but this is simply heartbreaking. There has
never been a more beloved sports figure in Minnesota. He had the funny
round but powerful body, the leaping ability, the "tomahawk" batting
style, the flair for dramatics (see World Series) but to most kids and
fans it was his joy and passion he brought to the game. No, no, make
that his smile and infectious laugh that most will remember. He was a
once in a lifetime kind of player in terms of talent, zest and joy.
Honestly.
Besides watching him in the World Series and during the season, my
friends and I drove to Milwaukee for his amazing 10 consecutive hit
week-end. I don't even recall how many of these hits were Home Runs
but man was he LOCKED IN. It was electric.
Puck..sounds cliche but he was the poor kid who came from the
projects of Chicago whom virtually everyone that knew him loved him.
Tim Laudner today said that when he first saw Pucket he asked another
player "who is that guy"? Per Kirby was a skinny, little guy at that
time. He was told, he's gonna be our center fielder. Laudner
responded "You gotta be kidding me".

I know those of you whom are baseball fans know what Kirby meant but
just in case....

He should have been a bigger icon for the game then he even was.

What else can I say but..
thank you Kirby.
