hi, audities types...

regarding david bash's post:

"I have two PAL DVDs, one is a Region 0 copy of the movie "Crazy Moon"
and the other a Region 2 copy of "Twins". When I play them, I notice
that they play a bit too fast..."

PAL is a mainly european television standard which operates at 50 fields
per second. america's television standard is NTSC, which uses 60 fields
(30 frames) per second. this explains the speed-up effect, although i'm
surprised you're even getting a picture if you're trying to play PAL
media on NTSC equipment...

bottom line: if any audities folks need to have PAL or SECAM DVDs or
videotapes transferred to NTSC DVD (for viewing here in the US), my
wife's company, PastPlay, does that. ask for the audities discount!

the website is www.pastplay.com and includes all kinds of other transfer
services, as well as premium services like personal documentaries.
pretty cool!

hope all's well in audities-land...
