After seeing some recent iPod-related posts, I think I might find help here for a problem I'm having, which had me feeling like an idiot. I recently bought "Tune Transfer for iPod" software (no instruction manual or Help screen). Fortunately, it loaded easily and seemed to operate logically, so I tried downloading some songs from iPod to PC. Unfortunately, after doing this, the songs didn't show up in my iTunes library on the PC.

By using Windows Explorer, I see that the audio files are on the PC's hard drive, so I know they loaded. HOWEVER, instead of showing the song titles, each audio file has a filename consisting of 4 apparently random letters (e.g., XBHE). When I double-click on one of these "useless" filenames, the song title miraculously appears in its place, and iTunes kicks in and plays the song. But only *after* this step did that song show up in my iTunes library.

If anyone has used this software successfully, perhaps you can offer some guidance. Will it really be necessary for me to double-click on every audio filename to display the title, and have it show up in my iTunes? If so, that could take a while and be a real nuisance...

Thanks in advance!

Be seeing you,
Bill

np: Ramones - Live at the Palladium in NYC, 1/7/78 - amazing recording with the same set list as the "It's Alive!" album
