In addition to laughs, Don Knott's caused me lots of confusion as a
lad it seems.

1) Post watching him as Barney Fife and on one show, his stopping
traffic, I decided to do the same thing. I was 4 or so, and I went
out in the middle of the street and stopped an oncoming milk-truck.
Barney did it, it seemed like the thing to do. My hand held high and
I did indeed stop the truck. I remember feeling proud for a moment.
This was quickly followed by a deserved tongue lashing via the
Milkman.

2) "Shakiest Gun In The West". My fav of his movies back in the
day. At the time, I thought it was about the greatest thing I'd
ever seen at a movie theatre. More confusion for this young boy
involving Don accidentally dropping a dental tool down the front of
his female customer's dress. His nervously considering retrieving
the tool...It was almost more then this boy could take.

Anyway, RIP Barney

Steve D
