Apologies for forgetting who originally asked (after their enjoying the PUDDIN EP?), but Joe Giddings replied:

I have their most popular album - "Been There", with a song that was
on the radio for a time called
"Bleeder". Catchy, rockin' tune with a quirky off-time hook.
The rest is pretty bland almost-grunge with a hint of power-pop here and there.
And talk about goofy song titles...
"She won't get under me till I get over you", "Bitch Can't Sing",
and "Four Letter Name For Lame".
Whew.
later, joe

Just had to give BEEN THERE some counter-point love. It's undeniably trashy fun, but it's fun nonetheless, and though it is certainly big guitar-led early 90's pop, it's not IMO especially grungy, certainly not at the expense of the sort of fast hard pop melodicism that I know many here would appreciate. Goofy song titles? Yup. But if you appreciate the teenage (OK, maybe just adolescent) kicks of title like "She Won't Get Under Me Till I Get Over You" (btw a killer tune), you've hurdled the high bar. Sure, maybe if I believed in the concept of "guilty pleasures" I'd describe Best Kissers and BEEN THERE as one of mine, but I wouldn't want to cheapen the enjoyment I've gained from this fast, fun, trashy maybe but always melodic and catchy garbage pail gem.
If you ain't skeered of gettin' a little dirty, you could do a lot worse than to venture the $2.99 it should take to snag BEEN THERE from the depths of a used bin near you, or to throw the $.75 plus postage it takes to grab it from half.com. Heck, IMO the record's worth that alone for the atypical, slower pathos of the ballad "Bad About The Fact."

Your Mileage May Vary,
b.s.
