This review says about the collaboration of the two bandmembers:

whom were more or less used to being the sole songwriter on their respective 
projects -- and infused the songs with a simplified vitality and immediacy 
that the pair felt tied them back to "the good old days" or early rock 
music.

Really? It enervated them? Meaning it sapped the strength from them? It 
weakened them?  I'm assuming the dude meant that it energized them. Buy a 
dictionary or thesaurus, please.
