The Bob Seger and the Last Heard and the System period stuff is very much worth checking out.
Several years back I bought a Satelliters cd from Not Lame that among other things offered up a blistering cover of 2 + 2. Great stuff indeed.
On a degrees of separation note I had a high school English teacher who regaled the class with tales of growing up with Seger as a classmate in Detroit and brought in the autographed high school yearbook to back it up .
