If the standard for "being a dick" is merely making a
comment that someone who misuses a word should buy a
dictionary or thesaurus, then you are a megadick.
Jesus Christ, I've read your catty, needlessly cutting
posts, directed at artists or people whose opinions
you disagree with (not often on the latter, but it has
happened), for going on a decade. You exemplify the
cliche "can dish it out, but can't take it." You have
no problem heaping your invective and hyperbole on
others, or calling out others who you think cross the
line, but when it comes to yourself, you believe that
your shit simply doesn't stink.
What I find most hypocritical about your initial post
and your response is that I could so easily see the
post Eytan made being written by you -- except you'd
probably go further - "the Oxford English Dictionary
(8th Edition, 1952, which is clearly the standard
before the OED went downhill) and Roget's Unabridged
Thesaurus."
