Change the business to comic book specialty stores, instead of record/CD
shops, and you can understand my position. Comic shops have taken some
hits from the burgeoning business on-line. Fortunately, we're coming off
our best year ever as we've found ways to not only survive, but thrive.
I give a lot of credit to my staff because all of them can get excited
by what they're selling---and turn a lot of customers on to new and cool
stuff.
In 2005, I can proudly state that I did not buy any music from Amazon or
e-Bay. On-line, Not Lame gets my biz. Not only does Bruce support indie
artists with his label, he also does it with his mail order.
What might be an illuminating exercise would be for those posting their
Top 20 CDs of '05 to also post the break-down of where they purchased
their music. Might be sad, though...
