I say: Hey Mike,
Pick up Castaways and Cutouts (2003) and tell me if you don't actually
like it better. I love "Picaresque", obviously (adding Petra Haden was a
stroke of near-genius), but this Castaways record somehow sounds, maybe,
less forced, more "at ease", more natural, or maybe organic? Obviously
I'm still trying to figure it the how's and why's between my liking one
or the other "best". Anyway, the track "July, July" is on Castaways and
worth the price of admission alone. If you can't find a sample, I'll
gladly brew up a quick mp3 and mail it to ya (and anyone else, ring me
up offline). Both are available via emusic, however.
