Things have been trending in this direction for quite a while now, but
2005 for me was the year that I reverted back to my pre-junior high
sense of pop as primarily a singles music. There were plenty of good
albums released in 2005, but for a variety of reasons, I was mostly
listening to music a song or two at a time this year. While most of
these 100 songs were properly released as singles only in my mind, all
of them do for me what a great single must: make all other music
superfluous for two to six minutes at a time.
